Medium-bodied, detailed and elegant. This wine expresses a vision for Shiraz that is uncommon in Rutherglen. Guided by place, the fruit we grow at Terravinia Vineyard produces fine tannin and structure. Winemaking is adapted to hero red/blue fruits, delicate spice and excellent length. Cellaring 7+ years.
This wine represents the renaissance of Terravinia - a historic vineyard and winery dating back to 1870. We now manage this vineyard, a humble four acres of close-planted shiraz vines established in 1996 that reside on a north-facing slope overlooking Murray River flats. This site is located in the Gooramadda sub-region of Rutherglen, 9km North-East of Scion.
Alc 13.6%, 303 dozen produced.
Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front) writes...
Syrah from one of the premier producers of the Rutherglen region… Pure silk. Bold with flavour but presented in elegant fashion. It tastes of berries, violets, sweet spices and dry licorice. It’s slipped with savoury tannin but everything has been eased and teased into place; nothing is forced. It honours the region and presents its own take on it at the same time. Modern, clean, pristine shiraz, delivered just so.
